Mildura has a few stores which are an attraction unto themselves, a range of fascinating and unique speciality and gift shops to explore. These boutique stores are not only adorable but offer experiences and a range of items you won’t find anywhere else.
Go gift shopping in Mildura at the ever-popular Woodsies Gem Shop.
This store is a treasure trove, it’s like walking into what you’d imagine the treasure room of a castle would look like. Gold trinkets, jewels and gems of all shapes and sizes litter the shelves of rooms that are designed to represent the interior of a series of linked caves, stalactites and all.
Many of the gemstones are from Australian mines and most are set on site. You can get a great insight into the art of gemstone cutting from passionate staff that just love to put on a show for the kids. Speaking of the kids, there’s not only great demonstrations to capture their imagination, there’s a great maze for them to run amok in outside, as well as Aladdin’s cave to explore and dinosaur fossils to excite their imaginations in an educational manner.
In the cooler months there’s a wonderful log fire burning where you can have a quiet coffee or a meal, perhaps while you wait for your custom jewellery to be constructed.
If you have a sweet tooth, or know someone who does, then you should definitely check out the equally popular Mildura Chocolate Company and perhaps pop in to Bushells on Tenth Ye Olde Lolly Shoppe.
Try some of the delicious samples while you watch the mesmerisingly fluid process of chocolate being made behind behind the glass shopfront. The employees are all locals with disabilities who’ve been given a fair go, and the ingredients used are all sourced locally too. Definitely try a sample of the blood orange chocolate and the Murray River pink salted dark chocolate.
Bushells Ye Olde Lolly Shoppe is a charming little store full to the brim with delightful lollies and country charm, you’ll love their range of Australian favourites and you might find something you haven’t seen in years!
There’s plenty to see and do when exploring the high streets of Mildura for great shopping experiences!
